This is quite clearly a drawing, but it is a pretty decent drawing (by ME) of the devil duckies I bought. I grabbed Andy for a day and we went to the old part of town and looked around. We found a novelty shop and I decided I couldn’t like without the mini glow-in-the-dark threesome of devil duckies. The real ones are white-ish (you know, like glow-in-the-dark), but I didn’t want to try and convey that with my new watercolor pencils. So I went with yellow. That’s the thing, live with it, and until next week *waves.*
Candy Monstrosity
Neopets Web cam pic
This is a web cam picture from the Neopets site, but it is just too weird to pass up. It’s a Fuzzle in a McDonald’s cup with fruit around it… I couldn’t do any better folks.
Web cam in action
This is a web cam picture of my friend. She’s with her boyfriend. (Dec 2005 Note: Her now husband! They will have been married 1 year on Dec 26th 2005.) Oh, how sweet! Anyways, they’re out of town but we got to talk and stuff over the Instant Messenger. The beauty of technology. He has a little sister that is just adorable and she gets on ever so often. That’s your thing of the week folks.
Tomb Raider Watch
This is a Tomb Raider watch. I got one 3 years ago, and the spring broke under warranty, so we took it back, and I got a blue one. Well, the new one served faithfully until Friday night. It broke… and the clip won’t stay closed. I’m afraid that if I wear it, it will fall off. I honestly don’t remember having to change the batteries… I am saddened. I need a new watch now.
Broccoli Casserole
Burger King Cup
This is a particularly horrible sketch of a cup lid from a fast food restaurant. (Dec 2005 note: I think it was a Burger King cup.) This was actually drawn on yellow lined paper and I got the lines out by scanning it black and white. I wish that worked with white lined paper; I’d have tons more drawings.
Fork through Plate
Chopsticks
Dec 2005 note: The meat stuff I reference is Bulgogi, and it’s awesome. Go to a Korean restaurant and get some. You won’t regret it.
In recent weeks I have grown fond of chopsticks. I like to use them to eat my Chinese food. I would use them to eat my Korean food, but we only have this meat stuff that is almost big enough to cut up. This picture is beautiful, but my chopsticks are metal and they are from Korea.
Web Cam
Playdoh
Dec 2005 note: Who honestly doesn’t love playdoh? It’s non-toxic, and kinda salty, and is probably the best thing to play with as a kid as long as you don’t smash it into the carpet. But that’s pretty fun until you get caught too.
This is a tub of playdoh I drew. Another random subject to my madness. I suppose putting the name on there may be some sort of copy right violation, but that one guy got away with Campbell’s name on his work, and he had four of them!
TV Remote
Note Dec 2005: This week’s TotW is a TV remote, which is kinda lame, but I drew a pic, and I’ll get a real photo up eventually.
Here’s a pic I drew of my television remote. I have no idea why I drew this, and as you can see, I copy and pasted the first row of buttons. The real remote is a little different, mostly the fact that there are numbers and symbols. The red button is the power button.
Totoro Beanbag
New Years Cookies
Wow, I actually found New Year’s cookies. How pathetic is that? I suppose if you want to be in the season and spirit, but I have always associated wine and confetti with the new year.
Panda figurine
Bike Egg
Once again Phoenix was caught looking up “thing” on google again! I believe this is a bike. If it is, I would like to have one, provided it is not too hard to pedal. I’d love the extra reassurance that I won’t swallow a fly, or get rained on. It does look like something from the Jetson’s though. Can’t blame a guy for trying.
Monkey Bars
Moogle
pencil sharpener
scissors
These are my scissors I’ve had since 2nd grade. I got them just before Fiskers started blunting the tips of the little people scissors. So, while the ends are sharp, they do have a point on them. Although I’ve come to resent pink in my latter years, I still love my scissors.
birthday cake
Tux
This week’s thing of the week is Tux the Penguin, the poster child of Linux. I am a windows user, but there will always be a special place in my heart for Linux. This week is special, I found a game to go along with Tux here. It is from http://planet-trash.de, which is now defunct, and is not my work, it’s all theirs. Click here to play Use the arrow keys to move, it’s sorta like Mario.
pickle pin
eraser cap
lighter
Fellowship pin
This is my homemade Fellowship of the Ring pin. I can make more authentic ones, but they don’t hold up. This one is a painted metal pin with wire accents. The other ones are just Fimo: Fellowship of the Ring pin in polymer clay
chair
Head statue
This is a head statue… I don’t know of who, it’s 70’s decor one of my teachers kept in her office. She had all our smart people trohpies too, ‘cause that was her job; “take care of the smart kids.” She basically facilitated field trips so we could get a break. She retired last year and her replacement can’t do 1/2 of what she did. I miss her so much.
Light switch
This is a random light switch. Light switches are very useful things. I would die if I had to turn on every florescent lamp when I walked into a classroom. First off I’m too short to reach the ceiling, secondly there are about 20 in every room! One good thing… try and let the teachers “turn out the lights” to make it quiet. :-D
Book pile
Flower
Digital Camera
This is my new crappy digital camera. The pictures aren’t complete crap, but I think I could have done better, but hey, it was 10 bucks. I tried to take notes off the board with it, but that didn’t work either. I can’t hold a camera still, which doesn’t help things. I got a good picture of a few people, though.
Clothespin
This as you can see, is a clothespin. Yes, it’s usually considered a banal object, but today I felt quite the same. It has many uses, including: closing chip bags, holding clothes on a drying line, or my favorite, blocking odours from one’s nose. You can also paint a clothespin to make it look a shark and run around attacking people with it… that’s more than fun. Well, now that I have corrupted you, I’ll let you have fun with the clothespins.
Rock
Hey guys! Look what I found when I, once again, looked up thing on google’s image search? It’s a ceramic rock, that has a face. It’s kinda cool, but kind of disturbing. Do you know what I mean? It looks so sad… *sniffles* it makes me a little sad too. Oh well, it’s kinda pretty too. Don’t let him(her) get you down, or let his(her) big eyes freak you out. Until next week, rock on.
Touch light
Flash Light
Lord of the Rings Arwen Mug
Hey, what’s this? I don’t know how much this is worth anymore, but I wanted one of these mugs ‘cause of the cool lighting up thing. I actually wanted Frodo or Aragorn, or maybe it was Legolas… Not here though, but that’s all they had left. She’s cool I guess, completely non-canonical.
Twizzlers
My mom bought me this 5 lbs tub of twizzlers for some reason. I just thought it was funny, because even though you would want to buy twizzlers in a bigger package than the 1 lbs bags, I would have thought that the next increment would just be a case of 1 lbs bags, and not this 5 lbs tub.
Penguin
I got this little guy from a picnic I went to. We painted little kids faces all day, and it rained, but it wasn’t so bad. This was more than a month ago, but we didn’t get our camera till a few weeks ago. There really isn’t much of a story behind this penguin friend of mine, just that I was instantly attached to him, he’s so very cute! Purple and white are my school’s colors, so if I dress up as a pirate, I can put him on my shoulder and be in spirit. Oh yeah! Penguins rule!
Pepsi
This week’s thing is a festive fireworks Pepsi can. I was out of soda so I got a case of Pepsi, and when I opened the case, I saw these awesome cans. Perfect for the holiday season. I let off several fireworks on the 4th. I should have put my firecrackers in one of these cans, but I wasn’t at home. 227 years ago a bunch of colonists signed a paper that changed the world. How cool is that?
German Shepard Figurine
This week’s thing of the week demonstrates my complete lack of photography skills… You can tell what it is, right? Well if you can’t it’s a German Shepard holding an “Adopte-Moi” sign. Ananda got it for me when she went on her trip to Quebec. She’ll be coming home in a few weeks and I just thought I’d put this figurine up. It’s not left my desk since she gave it to me, I like dogs, and I like Ananda, so yea. Till next week, bat-kids.
Beetle
I am literally obsessed with the Beetle. I want one, I want a metallic blue convertible. There is no way you are going to keep my money away from Volkswagen. I really hope they make a hybrid version within the next few years, or by the time I am out of college. The old ones are nice, but I prefer the new ones simply because they are easier to get a hold of. I have a radio/cd player (blue) and remote control version (green). The official site for the new beetle is here: http://www.vw.com/newbeetle. Be sure not to miss next week’s thing of the week!
Dish Chair
Hey! Look at that spiffy looking chair! I know those have been around for a while, but they are really kewl and pretty comfortable. Comfort is always a good thing, don’t you think? I am doing a bit of rambling and repeating myself, eh? Well, I don’t have one of these yet, but I want one, but I don’t have enough room, I would have to replace one of my other chairs (I have three!). One of these chairs holds my stuffed animals, one holds my clean laundry (so I can keep it separate from the dirty stuff on the floor) and the “Captain’s Chair” which is a black office chair, holds me! Next week’s thing of the week is… I have no clue, don’t ask.
Chiminea
Last week’s thing reminded me of my dad’s chiminea. It’s a big clay thing that you can cook in, burn stuff in, just generally play with fire in. It’s really kewl, but I think I’m the only one who has used it, (and that was to burn last year’s school papers! :-D). We got it for my dad for x-mas a few years ago, it’s about 3 or 4 feet tall and sits on a wire thing, (that’s not a real picture of it.) It’s just a tool of fire, and because every teenager is a pyromaniac, I thought it was appropriate. Until next week!
Incense Burner
Hey guys, look at this! I typed in thing on google’s image search and this was one of the many results (including Fantastic Four’s “The Thing”). Do you know what it is? Well I’ll tell you. It’s an incense burner! That takes all the fun away from it, doesn’t it? Oh well. It looks kewl, and I was sorta wondering what I was going to put up here. It’s pretty awesome looking for an incense burner though, eh? I certainly don’t have anything that kewl that burns anything, (well except my dad’s chiminea.)
Duct Tape
A small little white man with a tiny little horn walks out from behind the duct tape and says, “By Decree of her holy webmisstress, ALL HAIL THE DUCT TAPE!” The little man takes up his horn and blows a melodious tune to which everyone is entertained. Duct tape just rocks, it is as simple as that. There’s no getting around it, over it, under it, or through it. “Duct tape is like the force, it has a light side and a dark side and it hold the universe together.” There is more about duct tape in today’s pop culture than the ever famous toilet paper, the weapon of choice juvenile delinquents. That is why duct tape is the thing of the week, not to mention it might get me a lot of scholarship money next prom, click here for more info.
Gummi Bears
Gummi Bears are the thing of the week. Why? Well, you guess it, I just like ‘em. I think they are cute, and of course, tasty. They aren’t the healthiest snack, but what can I say? I love the little buggers, they make great story puppets and are fun to play “gummi bear porn” with. (it’s not as bad as it sounds). Gummi bears are just one of the many gummi treats this booming industry has to offer, there are gummi worms, and gummi soda, and last but not least, sour gummi night crawlers, (sorry gals, not the furry guy.) Gummi treats hold a special place in my heart, and thus are this week’s thing.
Luminglas
This is a Luminglas Lamp. It is relatively thin, 1/2 an inch except for the 4 or 5 inches for the power and control box on the back. They come in a variety of colors, and run about 100 dollars. Mine is green, like the Borg alcove ones. (Star Trek fan to the core baby!) I wanted to put it above my bed, but it wouldn’t mount on the wall. It’s on my desk now though. It reacts to sound and touch. It’s one of the many “things” I have in my room.
Evian
This week’s thing of the week is Evian bottled water. “ Because it’s “naive” spelled backwards. And it’s French, so you can dis on it.” - Mari Komadori. I have nothing against the French, my best friend loves France, thus so do I. Bottled water is as much of a thing as anything else, so why not?
Dancing Alien
This is my dancing alien toy! I got it off of UrbanOutfitters.com. They no longer sell it however. It dances by spinning it’s arms. There are three songs, and it is from a Japanese company. I love this thing, it definitely draws attention. It’s one of my favorite toys. It does require batteries, but I have yet to replace them after two years. Everyone should have one, because they are just spiffy. That’s all there is to is. Being a sci-fi fan this is a little piece of random fun that I can say goes with my habit.
Liberty Kitty
This week’s thing is “Liberty Kitty”! The new savior of the world, Liberty Kitty has come all the way from… Ok maybe not, but he sure is cute! I picked him up at a card shop, ‘cause he (or she) was on sale. What a find! I love to show my support for the good ol’ U. S. of A. In this time of “conflict” with Iraq (we’ve not officially declared war yet), I think he’s appropriate. He goes along with the “freedom” fries and “freedom” toast we love. :-)
Oscars
Largest Lava Lamp
This week is the world’s largest lava lamp. No joke, check out this site: http://www.giantlavalamp.com/
duckie
slinkie
smint
Smints are the thing of the week! They are little mint like things for a $1.30. I have peach as the picture because that’s all I’ve found, though there is more at their website here: http://www.smint.com.
